Operations Page

The operations page allows you to perform various administrative tasks on your instance. Some of the operations, such as assigning global identifiers to all records, involve processing of all the records in the repository and they may take a while to complete. Such long-running operations are invoked as background jobs and you can check on their status through the Job Queue page.

Global Identifiers

The first two operations relate to the assignment of global identifiers. A global identifier is an identifier assigned by OpenEMPI to records and records that refer to the same entity have the same global identifier assigned to them. Through this menu you can initiate background jobs to either assign a global identifier to all records in the system or to delete all global identifiers assigned to records.

PIX/PDQ Server

OpenEMPI provides support for the handling of HL7v2 messages that are compliant with the IHE PIX/PDQ profiles specifications (support for HL7v3 and FHIR-based messages is provided through a web services interface which is separate from the service described here). By default, when the OpenEMPI instance starts it also automatically start the PIX/PDQ server that listens for incoming HL7v2 messages but this setting may be changed. In such cases you can use the buttons offered by this page to manually start and stop the PIX/PDQ server.

Entity Indexes

OpenEMPI automatically creates indexes to speed-up query requests for records based on fields from the entity model definition that have been marked to be indexed. The system automatically updates those indexes as well so you normally don’t have to manually drop them and re-create them but under unusual circumstances the need may arise to manage those indexes manually. This page provides you with control to manually either drop all the indexes or to recreate them.
